Frequently Asked Questions
-
Precision Pilates teaches the original Classical Pilates method, as designed by Joseph Pilates, known as Contrology.
-
Contrology is a structured system of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates. The method follows a specific order and uses repetition to build strength, coordination, mobility, and body awareness over time. Rather than constantly changing exercises, Contrology focuses on precision, consistency, and progressive mastery, allowing the body to adapt intelligently and safely. Sessions require concentration, attention to detail, and personal responsibility for movement quality.
-
Contrology was never designed to entertain through variety.
The exercises remain consistent so clients can refine technique, build real strength, and see measurable progress over time. Repetition allows patterns to change, weaknesses to be addressed, and movement to become more controlled and efficient. Constantly changing exercises interrupts this process and reduces the effectiveness of the work. Progress in Contrology comes from practice, not novelty. -
Yes.
All clients must complete an Initial Consultation/Assessment before joining group sessions or memberships. This ensures your program is appropriate, safe, and aligned with the Contrology method. -
Open Studio is a semi-private format where clients work independently through their personalised program on the equipment, under teacher supervision.
It is not a group class, and clients are expected to arrive on time, prepared, and familiar with their program. -
Cancellations must be made with at least 18 hours’ notice.
Late cancellations or no-shows will forfeit the session, regardless of reason. -
Clients are expected to:
Arrive on time and prepared
Follow instructor guidance
Respect studio equipment and policies
Take responsibility for their own health and movement
Precision Pilates is a focused training environment, not a casual drop-in studio.
-
Precision Pilates is intentionally structured and not designed to suit everyone. We may not be the right fit if you are looking for:
Constantly changing workouts or entertainment-based exercise
Drop-in classes with no long-term commitment
High flexibility around cancellations, late changes, or irregular attendance
A social or chat-based class environment
A casual approach to movement without attention to precision, form, or progression
Short-term results without consistent practice
Contrology is a disciplined system that relies on repetition, consistency, and accountability. Clients who thrive here value structure, show up regularly, and understand that progress comes from committed practice over time.
If this approach doesn’t suit your lifestyle or expectations, we completely understand — and we’re happy to help guide you toward an option that may be a better fit elsewhere.
